Hans van Dormolen Imaging & Preservation Imaging (HIP)

Hans van Dormolen is an independent imaging consultant. He has founded HIP in 2012. Hans is working internationally for the cultural heritage community.

Hans received an IS&T Service Award in 2014 for his work in objective capture practices for cultural heritage imaging. And he was nominated for an IS&T Award in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

Hans is a member of ISO TC42 JWG26  and a member of the society of Imaging Science & Technology (IS&T).

Hans has  presented courses & papers in the following cities: Paris, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Moscow, Amsterdam, The Hague, Brussels, Antwerp, London, Brighton, Lisbon, Bern, Washington, Jakarta, Berlin, Darmstadt, Los Angeles, Hilversum and Doha.

Hans van Dormolen is author of the following Imaging & Preservation Imaging Guidelines:

  • Metamorfoze Preservation Imaging Guidelines, Image Quality, version 1.0, January 2012.
  • Metamorfoze Preservation Microfilming Guidelines, Version III, 2006.
  • Metamorfoze Preservation Microfilming Guidelines, Blueprints & Technical Drawings, April 2006.
  • Guidelines Scanning Metamorfoze Preservation Microfilms, draft version 2009.

He has developed these guidelines on behalf of the National Library of The Netherlands whilst working for Office Metamorfoze as a researcher and imaging specialist.
